Being Pulled Sideways – You Can Do This

Do you ever get those days where you are working towards something or needing to finish by a tight deadline and then something or someone is pulling you sideward?

I had this recently and it was really hard to say no and stay on track with what was the most important bit for me to complete at the time. The energy and strength to push through the demands and being pulled sideways were hard.

I had to look past the demand and ensured I checked into why I was doing this piece of work and why it was important to me to complete it now and not to put it off.

I had to look at the why but I also had to look at the future and why it was important to say no and not let being pushed sidewards affect me.

Managing others can be hard as well as coping with unexplained extra work/tasks but when you are busy doing what you want to do for the now and the future it is important to keep coming back to the why.

Having that why in front of me and it is literally in front of me on a notice board written up as well as being included in my vision board. This helped me but also getting that support around you that keeps being your champion.

They can be the ones you get your frustrations off to but also help keep you upwards rather than sidewards.

• Have that why written up in front of you and/or include it in your vision board

• Keep referring back to it when situations try to make you go sideways

Say no if it doesn’t fit with your long-term plans, especially when you have a tight deadline.

You can do this!
