Ducks or Sheep
You may be wondering why I am talking about ducks and sheep.
Well, one of my business clients needed some time with me to help him get his work in order as he was spinning lots of plates at one time and needed to talk through everything. He wanted to look at his business as he has lots of plans but wanted to be sure of this as so much was running around his brain and some clarity was needed.
I said it sounds like we need your ducks in order but almost like he was trying to gather all the sheep into one place, but a few weren’t going in the same direction causing it all to be a bit busy and chaotic.
We giggled at the thought of these ducks and sheep, but it is true as we do want to get our ducks in a row but sometimes in fact it is like trying to gather up the sheep and some escaping in a different direction.
Talking it all out meant that slowly the sheep were coming together in one direction with none escaping. And if any did there was a reason for it and to be ok with this.
So, do you let those go?
Do you chase after them as they form part of your business even if it isn’t for now?
Do you chase one of them and which one would that be and what happens to the ones you have already collected into one place?
Do you want your ducks in a row? How does that help you going forward with your business and personal goals?
Sometimes having some visuals in place to understand where you are now but also where you want to be, can be useful to think of spinning plates, ducks in a row or rounding up the sheep or all three.
Sometimes just finding simple visuals to explain how the client is currently feeling but also where they want to be, and feel is great for the client.
